Bryan Adams
Bryan Adams, the Canadian song-writer and singer is amongst the most talented and respected icons in the music world. Selling around 65 million albums and collecting countless awards along the way it's no surpise why we want to play his great music in our Tribute Act. Here's a brief history of Bryan Guy Adams, the man, the music, the legend...
Bryan Guy Adams was born on the 5th November in 1959 in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. He was born to English parents and due to his father's job as a diplomat he did a lot of travelling around the world, spending many of his early years in Europe. So this begs the inevitable question, "Where was he in the Summer of 69 ?" He was actually near Lisbon, the capital of Portugal.
In 1973 Bryan returned home to his native Canada and in his early teens worked in a record store. He quit school when he was 15 to start playing in Canadian nightclubs. At this tender age he sang lead with a band called Sweeney Todd releasing an album called, " If Wishes Were Horses".
Soon after Adams hit on a chance meeting with Jim Vallance - a drummer looking for a singer. This would form the basis of a long-lasting song-writing relationship which is still going strong. Having sent his demos off to Toronto based A&M records he struck lucky and signed for the sum of one dollar.
Today Bryan Adams is recognised universally as a Rock Superstar who has received several Grammy Award nominations and won two awards in 1992 for "Best Pop Instrumental Performance" and "Best Song Written for a Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media" (Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves soundtrack). He has also been nominated for Golden Globe and Academy awards and amongst his other major accolades he has been awarded the Order of Canada and the Order of British Columbia.
